The 11th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) opened Sunday for a four-day run at the COEX Convention Center in southern Seoul.
Since its inception in 1983, the IACC, one of the largest anti-corruption conferences in the world, has served as a rallying point for a consensus on the global campaign against corruption.
About 1,000 government and civic group officials and scholars from some 110 countries will hold four plenary sessions and 60 workshops under the theme of "Different Culture, Common Values."
The forum will draw to a close with a plenary session on Wednesday, after speeches given by high-level officials from former and present host countries, including President Roh Moo-hyun, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald L. Evans and Dutch Justice Minister Jan Piet Hein Donner.
Marking its 20th anniversary this year, the conference, being held for the third time in Asia, will adopt "Seoul Recommendations," an action plan to ensure anti-corruption and transparency in government.
