Pak to Retire from LPGA Tour After This Year

South Korean golfing pioneer Pak Se-ri has announced that the 2016 season will be her last on the LPGA Tour.

The 39-year-old living legend made the announcement during a media interview at the JTBC Founders Cup in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, confirming that this year will be her last full-time LPGA tour season.

Pak, who qualified for the World Golf Hall of Fame at age 29, said the decision to retire was not easy, but felt it was the right time.

She said she learned a great deal on the tour and also made efforts to share her knowledge with others.

Pak added that retirement will allow her to pursue new goals in the next chapter of her life.

She also expressed strong commitment to fostering junior talent as she is currently coaching the South Korean team set to compete at the Rio Olympics in Brazil this summer.
