Comedian-Turned Director Shin Announces Production of D-War II

Comedian-turned-film director Shim Hyung-rae has announced the production of a sequel to his fantasy movie "D-War."

Shim made the announcement on Saturday in Beijing along with the movie production and distribution arm of the state-run Chinese Culture Group, which invested 500 million yuan in the film’s production.

The director said that he aims to garner more than four billion yuan, or 618 million U.S. dollars in revenue from the movie. He added that the film holds significance in that South Korea and China seek a joint project in the film industry under the bilateral free trade agreement.

The sequel "D-War II" depicts a fictional war between the United States and Russia in 1969 as the two countries race to land the first human on the moon.
