Six out of ten South Koreans were found to hold positive views on Pope Francis.
The Gallup International Association on Thursday announced the survey results regarding the Korean public's view of Pope Francis.
Sixty-five percent of respondents answered favorably while 22 percent said they did not find him favorable. Thirteen percent withheld a response.
The survey also showed that South Koreans' opinion of the leader of the Catholic Church was above the global average, and that most were fond of the pope regardless of their religious background.
By faith, 93 percent of Catholics held favorable views of the papal leader while over 60 percent of Protestants, Buddhists and atheists shared similar views.
The favorability rate across religious lines is higher in South Korea than the global average among 64 countries at 54 percent.
The survey was conducted by Gallup Korea from last October 29th to November 21st on 15-hundred people aged 19 or older in South Korea excluding Jeju Island.
