Churches Nationwide Celebrate Easter

Churches around the nation held services and Mass to celebrate Easter.

Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, head of the Seoul Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Korea, presided over the Mass services at Myeongdong Cathedral at noon on Sunday.

In his Easter message, the cardinal hoped that on the day celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that the light, joy and peace will reach every part of the Korean Peninsula, the North Korean people and every corner of the world.

Protestant churches also held a joint service on Sunday afternoon at Kwanglim Church in Seoul to celebrate Easter.

The joint service preparation committee said that at the service, believers prayed that South Korea, a divided country suffering from serious ideological conflict and the deepening gap between the rich and poor, will become a new country as Jesus resurrected.
