Lydia Ko Grabs First LPGA Win of 2016 Season

Golfer Lydia Ko has won the first LPGA event of the 2016 season, re-cementing her position as the top player in the world.

The 18-year-old South Korea-born New Zealander scored five-under 67, including seven birdies and two bogeys, in the fourth round on the final day of the Kia Classic, which was held at Aviara Golf Club in the U.S. state of California on Sunday.

Ko grabbed the first LPGA tour win by finishing the tournament 19-under 269 and defeating world number two golfer Park In-bee of South Korea.

The latest victory is Ko's eleventh win on the LPGA tour.

Park In-bee cut Ko’s lead down to one by scoring five-under 66 with six birdies and one bogey at the final round. But she finished second in the end, closing with a 67.
