Organizers of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and Paralympics have created an Instagram account for people to share related photos and videos via social media.
The organizing committee said Monday that it opened the account on the photo-sharing app for the Pyeongchang Games in Korean and English under the username "PyeongChang2018."
The social platform will be used to showcase photos and images to better promote the Pyeongchang Olympics and make the event more accessible to winter sports fans and Instagram followers.
Marking the opening of the service, organizers are holding a promotional event through April sixth, encouraging users to leave messages of support.
Shin Moo-chul, public affairs chief of the organizing committee, has pledged efforts to use Instagram as a channel to promote the Games to the younger crowd by developing content featuring South Korean sports stars such as figure skater Kim Yu-na and celebrities.
