The lead actor of the popular TV series "Descendants of the Sun," Song Joong-ki, appeared on the KBS 9 o'clock news Wednesday night to talk about the drama and his aspirations as a Hallyu star.
Song told the news anchors during a live interview that the script for "Descendants of the Sun" was so refreshing in many ways as it included featuring the occupation of a soldier that is rarely seen in a drama and a love story between an Army captain and a doctor.
Song also said that the long filming period which was possible due to the whole series' advance production allowed him to be more immersed with his character of an Army captain.
Regarding his status as a Hallyu star, the 31-year-old said that it's not of his own making and attributed it to senior actors before him, industry officials and the support of fans.
He said he will strive to become a proud Korean and a humble but confident actor.
