FIFA Orders Forfeiture Losses for Kuwait

The world’s governing body of football says Kuwait has forfeited its matches against South Korea and Laos in the Asian Football Confederation(AFC) qualifiers for the 2018 Russia World Cup.

FIFA on Wednesday stated Kuwait’s “unplayed" matches against South Korea on March 29th and Laos on March 24th would be considered as 3-0 losses for Kuwait as decided by the body's Disciplinary Committee.

The losses mean that South Korea earns nine more points for this month's FIFA rankings, raising the country’s earned points from 579 to 588.

But South Korea remains behind Iran and Australia in the world rankings, meaning that it would receive a second seed with Japan in the group drawings next Tuesday for the final qualifying round in Asia for the 2018 World Cup.
