A study shows South Korean movies, dramas, music and entertainment generated economic production worth 15-point-six trillion won, or about 13-point-five billion U.S. dollars, last year.

According to a study by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange(KOFICE) and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, production from the so-called K-Wave increased nine-point-two percent year-on-year in 2015.

It triggered economic production worth 13-point-six trillion won in 2012, 13-point-eight trillion won in 2013 and 14-point-three trillion won in 2014.

Officials said the K-Wave led to a two-point-seven trillion won production hike in the game industry, a two-point-three trillion won production increase in the car industry and two-point-two trillion won rise in tourism. The movie industry saw the highest jump, rising 246 percent from 2014.
