Anchor: The South Korean president on Monday was joined by the star of “Descendants of the Sun” and her culture officials, discussing ways to foster the nation’s media-entertainment industry. As the successful KBS TV series dominates ratings, she called for creating an environment where more successful K-Dramas can be produced.

Report: Joined by the star of the “Descendants of the Sun,” actor Song Joong-ki, President Park Geun-hye visited the the K-Style Hub in Seoul.
After attending the opening ceremony for the Korean food section at the facility which has been set up to promote Korean culture and tourism, Park sat down with the members of her cultural enrichment committee.
At the meeting, she discussed the success of KBS' TV series, noting that the government has been comprehensively reviewing if its various support measures are properly in place to meet the demand of the media-entertainment industry.
Calling the drama an exemplary case of her creative economy initiative, President Park stressed the need to actively foster traditional cultural assets and human resources so culture becomes a breakthrough in revitalizing industries.
She also underlined that culture must be grafted into industries to expand the nation’s economic scope, noting that the copyright of "Descendants of the Sun" was sold to some 30 countries.
The show is having a positive influence on exports of South Korean cosmetics, fashion and food products as well.
