The government on Monday dispatched a team to Brazil to check on preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics set for August.
The ten-member team, which included officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Foreign Ministry, the Centers for Disease and Prevention and the Korean Olympic Committee, will visit the Latin American country until next Monday.
The inspection team will receive information from the Rio Olympic organizing committee regarding the committee’s response system and preparations in relation to Zika virus and swine flu.
The team will also inspect committee-designated hospitals and other general hospitals near the athletes’ village.
The inspection team will also check major venues at the Olympics including the Maracanã Stadium, as well as a local branch of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA), where a temporary consular office will be set up during the Olympic period.
