Cave Paintings of Lascaux to be Displayed at Gwangmyeong Cave

The cave art paintings of the Lascaux Cave will be displayed at the Gwangmyeong Cave in Gyeonggi Province for five months beginning on Saturday.

The traveling exhibition, which toured France, the U.S., Canada, Belgium and Switzerland, will display copies of the famed cave paintings of Lascaux Cave in the Dordogne region of southwest France.

Sixty-two containers were assembled to create the 863-square-meter exhibit, which is a gigantic artwork in itself featuring a geometrical structure and paintings on the surface.

The exhibition was organized as part of a program celebrating the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and France.
