The National Institute for International Education will soon begin accepting applications for the Test of Proficiency in Korean, or TOPIK, scholarship for foreign students wishing to attend universities in South Korea.
The institute has been receiving applications every year since 2014 with the aim of promoting TOPIK, attracting students to South Korean universities and expanding hallyu.
This year, 12 universities, including Seoul National University and Ewha Womans University, will enroll 35 scholarship recipients.
The institute will provide round-trip airfare to selected students while the 12 universities will provide Korean language classes for around four months and accommodations at their dormitories.
Ethnic Koreans overseas or foreigners whose TOPIK score is of level three or higher are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Those interested must fill out applications and submit them to the institute via e-mail by the end of this month.
The institute will reveal the scholarship recipients on May fourth.
