S. Korean Novelist Han Kang Short-Listed for 2016 Man Booker Int'l Prize

South Korean author Han Kang has been short-listed for the Man Booker International Prize 2016 for her novel, "The Vegetarian."

KL Management, a Korean literary agency, said the organizer of the prize released a list of six final contenders, including Han, on its Web site on Thursday.

"The Vegetarian" was published in 2004 and translated into English by Deborah Smith.

The six-book selection was narrowed down from a long list of 13 and an original pool of 155 entries. The short list spans authors from various countries such as Angola, Austria and Turkey.

The winner will be announced on May 16th. The 50-thousand-British-pound prize will be equally divided between the author and the translator.
