South Korea’s Olympic football team has been placed in Group C in the first round of the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

In a drawing held at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Thursday, South Korea was named the second seed in Group C with the first seed Mexico, third seed Fiji and fourth seed Germany.

Sixteen teams will partake in the Olympic men's football tournament divided into groups A to D. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. 

South Korea is seeking to secure a medal for the second Olympics in a row, following its bronze medal win in the 2012 Summer Games in London. The squad's first match will be against Fiji on August fifth in the city of Salvador.
