Anchor: South Korea’s Olympic football team has been placed in Group C in the first round of the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Olympics. In a drawing held at Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium Thursday, South Korea was placed in the second seed in Group C with the first seed Mexico, third Fiji and fourth Germany.
Here is our Park Jong-hong with what the national football team's prospects in the 2016 Olympics look like.
Report: The South Korean national football team avoided the worst group combination.
Instead of being pitted against host Brazil and Argentina, the South Korean national team will face off with Germany, Mexico and Fiji in group C at the 2016 games.
While Mexico won the gold medal in the 2012 Summer Games in London, South Korea’s track record against Mexico in past Olympics of two wins, four draws and one loss, isn't that bad. In the group matches in 2012, Team Korea finished in a tie with Mexico.
Advancing to the Olympic games for the first time, Fiji's FIFA ranking stands at 182nd out of 204 countries.
South Korea's national team head coach Shin Tae-yong spoke to KBS right after the drawing Thursday at Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium.

"The result of the drawing is neither that bad or the best. Wouldn't it be an average?"
On August fifth, South Korea will have a match against Fiji in Salvador city and kick off with Germany at the same stadium on August eighth.
If Team Korea makes it to the quarterfinals, it will be facing teams from Group D comprising Argentina, Portugal, Algeria and Honduras.
South Korea is seeking to secure a medal for the second Olympics in a row, following its bronze medal win in London four years ago.
