Dongseo Univ. Alumni Wins Best Foreign Film Award at Maryland Int’l Film Festival

A movie produced by a group of South Korean university students and graduates has received the best foreign film award at an international film festival in the U.S.

Dongseo University said Monday that its graduate Kim Kyul won the honor at the fifth Maryland International Film Festival on behalf of the group for the full-length film titled, “The Cabinet of Francis.” Director Kim, along with 23 other students and graduates of the school, took part in the production of the film.

The university located in Busan provided a fund of 35 million won, or some 30-thousand U.S. dollars, for the production of the movie.

Launched in 2009, the Maryland International Film Festival has been gaining more attention in recent years. One-hundred-40 films from 26 countries were presented at this year’s event, which ran from April first to the third.
