Language experts have created an online dictionary of Korean sign language that aims to serve those with hearing and learning disabilities.
The National Institute of the Korean Language(NIKL) announced on Wednesday the launch of its online dictionary that combines existing mobile, online and offline sign language dictionaries.
The dictionary provides video instructions to help users better understand sign language, along with related up-to-date policy news. It includes sign language tutorials for various words that can be used in any type of conversation including that related to hobbies, religion, and cultural items displayed in museums.
The dictionary may be viewed online and on mobile phones by visiting http://sldict.korean.go.kr. Users can just place the cursor on top of the listed words to view the definitions and attached videos without having to click.
The state-run institute says it aims to release a new dictionary with the latest particularities of the communication system in the near future.
