The Seoul-based Korea Foundation(KF) will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its establishment by hosting an exhibition of children’s books from around the world.
The foundation said on Friday that it will hold the special exhibition from next Wednesday to June eighth at the KF Gallery in central Seoul under the title, "Encounter the World through Children’s Books."
Some 400 books in 28 languages from 45 countries will be displayed at the exhibition, which will be free of charge. Most of the books were recommended or donated by 44 foreign embassies and cultural centers in South Korea.
Books on display will include outstanding works that have received the Bologna Ragazzi Award, such as “The War that Changed Rondo” of Ukraine and “Top Top Top” of Iran.
South Korean author Lee Gi-hun's "Egg" and Suzy Lee's "Wave" will also be among portrayed books. Lee was among five illustrators shortlisted for the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Awards(HCAA) in February, the first for a South Korean.
The exhibition will also feature a program in which ambassadors to South Korea from 28 countries will read aloud books in their own language to children.
