Cheong Wa Dae said Monday the government will set up a "Presidential Education Renovation Committee" to pursue educational reform and resolve conflicts between education-related entities.
In an announcement marking Wednesday's 100-day anniversary of President Roh Moo-hyun's government, the Policy Planning Office at Cheong Wa Dae announced in a set of policy initiatives that the government intends the committee to play a role in addressing conflicts and harmonizing opinions over educational issues.
Additionally, the government announced it would address skyrocketing land prices, by building 500,000 houses this year, and setting up a development plan for the Pangyo and Gimpo areas.
The two areas have been designated as residential cities to meet the growing need for new homes around the capital of Seoul.
