S. Korean Golfer Jenny Shin Wins 1st LPGA Career Victory

South Korean golfer Jenny Shin has won the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout for her first LPGA Tour victory.

Shin scored four-under 67, including four birdies, in the fourth round of the tournament, which was held at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas, on Sunday.

She finished the Texas Shootout at 14-under 270, defeating her compatriots Amy Yang and Hur Mi-jung by two shots. Yang, Hur and American Gerina Piller all tied for second.

This marks the first victory Shin has picked up since beginning her professional career on the LPGA in 2011. During her five-year LPGA career, Shin found herself near the top of the leaderboard only in the HSBC Champions in 2012 when she took second place.

With Shin’s victory, South Korean golfers have won five of eleven LPGA tournaments held so far this year.
