President Park Geun-hye has stressed the power of culture, in particular that of local cultural content, in order for the domestic economy to make a leap forward.
The president invited the chiefs of provincial cultural centers nationwide to her office on Friday and held a luncheon.
During the meeting, she called for creating new cultural contents by way of storytelling combined with Korea's traditional cultural and historical resources.
She also called for efforts to generate new added value to realize the "creative economy" vision.
Park said that during her recent trip to Iran, she witnessed the Iranian people's keen interest in Korean culture such as the martial art Taekwondo, the traditional song Arirang, Korean food, and the traditional Korean attire Hanbok.
She stressed there are numerous cultural resources in all corners of the country that can further draw the world's attention.
