Korean Planet Launched to Promote Hangeul

A nonprofit private organization has been launched in order to promote the beauty of the Korean alphabet, known as Hangeul, around the world.

Hangeul Planet, which first started in 2013 in the United States to teach Korean adoptees abroad and their families, was reborn as a nonprofit corporation.

Former agriculture minister Jang Tae-pyong was appointed as chief director and eleven experts were recruited for the organization.

Hangeul Planet plans to hold Hangeul calligraphy events at universities at home and abroad and work on cultural diplomacy to promote communication with people around the world through the Korean language.

The group will also produce education programs to teach Hangeul to multi-cultural families and overseas Korean children.
