Min Won Gi, a public official working at the Information and Communication Ministry, was elected chairman of the Information and Communication Service Department of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development during a meeting held in Paris on June 2nd.
The Information and Communication Service Department is in charge of presenting policies and alternative measures about major communication and broadcasting fields under the umbrella of the OECD.
The department's policies and decision-making on major issues affect other international trade organizations like the WTO especially in the areas of information and communication policies of OECD member countries.
Kim's election may increase South Korean leverage in related international settings.
