Education Minister Lee Joon-sik and his French counterpart Thierry Mandon have signed a letter of intent on educational cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement signed in Paris on Friday calls for facilitating exchanges among Korean and French university and graduate students and also the exchange of teachers during school breaks.
A separate agreement was also signed to enhance the other country's language education.
Under a dual language program called the "international section," France teaches various subjects at elementary and middle schools in 17 languages for six hours a week. Korean will now be added to the program.
The inclusion of the Korean language is expected to lead to the expansion of the subject in France's formal educational curricula.
Minister Lee pledged efforts to further boost cooperation in the education sector with Paris based on the inked agreements.
