The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Thursday that it will designate a list of representative foods of the city. 
 
Under the plan, the metropolitan government will select representative foods of the capital city and promote the list on major domestic and overseas portal sites, including China’s Baidu.
 
The decision comes after a 2015 survey found that 57-point-five percent of tourists visited Seoul to try its good foods. Another survey showed that 47-point-three percent of foreign tourists associate Seoul with good food and delicacies. 
 
The city government set up a 12-member advisory panel comprising academics, culinary and tourism experts early this month to come up with the food list.
 
At its inaugural meeting, the panel devised selection standards and decided to choose foods that are favored by tourists and symbolize the culture and traditions of Seoul.
