Avg. S. Korean Household Watches VOD on TV for 160 Minutes a Month

Recent data shows that a South Korean household watches TV programs through the video on demand(VOD) platform for about 160 minutes per month on average, while the most-watched programs are those in the entertainment genre.

The Korea Communications Commission(KCC) looked into the ratings of VOD programs that people paid to watch in a survey conducted on eight-thousand South Koreans aged four and above from 26-hundred households nationwide during the second half of last year.

In the results unveiled Friday, an average household watched VOD programs on television for 158 minutes per month. For an individual, the average duration was 97 minutes a month.

The largest percentage of the viewership at over 28 percent watched the video on demand the day after an original broadcast. Some 13-point-six percent watched it two days later and eleven percent after three days.

By genre, entertainment shows topped the rankings at 54 percent followed by dramas at 39 percent, information and news programs at over six percent and children's programming at zero-point-three percent.
