Interior Ministry Picks 33 Islands to Visit This Summer

The Ministry of the Interior has selected 33 islands to visit in South Korea this summer.

The list, jointly announced Monday with the Korea Tourism Organization, includes Yokji Island, which boasts beautiful scenery while keeping traces of Japan's colonial period, Jangbong Island, which has various hiking trails and Yeonhwa Island where visitors may enjoy boat fishing and other water sports.

The 33 islands are divided into five categories: those good for activities, quiet rests, food, scenery and finally, those that are difficult to get to.

The islands were selected by a panel of tourism experts. More information is available through local governments.
