S. Korean Satellite to Be Launched in Russia in September

The Ministry of Science and Technology said Monday South Korea's scientific research satellite "ST Sat-1" will be launched from Russia's Plesetsk Cosmodrome in September.

The ministry has put 11.6 billion won (US$9.64 million) into the project since 1998, while the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has designed and manufactured the satellite under the control of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

The 120 kilogram-satellite will undertake scientific research and experiments on the cosmos for three years after its launch..
