The Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that Ruud Lubbers, head of the U.N. High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), will make a three-day visit to Seoul beginning Sunday.

Lubbers will meet with officials from the Foreign and Justice ministries for talks concerning North Korean refugees and Seoul's contributions to the U.N. agency.

An official at the UNHCR's office in Seoul said Lubbers would also express his gratitude for South Korea's pledge of $11 billion to the agency this year and would ask for its continued support.

The U.N. official will also lobby for the Seoul government's help in promoting events to mark World Refugee Day, which falls June 20.
