20th SICAF Opens at Dongdaemun Design Plaza

The 20th Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival(SICAF) opened at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul on Wednesday for a five-day run.
 
A total of two-thousand-146 works from 88 countries were submitted this year for the festival’s animation competition. Out of that total, 123 from 33 countries made the final cut.
 
The opening ceremony will see the participation of Nelson Shin, producer of the U.S. animation series “The Simpsons,” who is also famous for animating the lightsaber visual effects in the original "Star Wars" film. U.S. comic book creator Onrie Kompan, the creator of the graphic novel series “Yi Soon Shin: Warrior and Defender” based on Korean Admiral Yi Sun-sin, will also be present at the ceremony.
