Chicago Police Probing Infielder Kang Jung-ho for Sexual Assault Allegations

Police in the U.S. city of Chicago have launched an investigation after a sexual assault allegation was made against South Korean infielder Kang Jung-ho of Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Chicago Tribune said Wednesday that police received a complaint from a Chicago woman whom Kang met through Bumble, a location-based dating application.

The daily said that Kang invited the woman to his hotel room on June 17th, hours after the Pirates had lost a day game to the Cubs.

The woman told investigators that Kang sexually assaulted her as she drifted in and out of consciousness for 15 to 20 minutes after being served an alcoholic drink.

The MLB said in a statement that it is aware of the allegations surrounding the 29-year-old. The MLB said it takes the allegation very seriously and vowed to cooperate fully with the Commissioner's Office regarding the matter.
