The Japanese Central Transportation Bureau ordered the Durubong-ho, a North Korean vessel, now anchored in the port of Mikawa, to harness lighting facilities that illuminate sea lane charts and life boats aboard the ship.

Japanese bureau officials said Thursday that sailors on the North Korean ship have notified the bureau of their intention to follow the relevant directives as requested by Japan before leaving the port on Friday.

The Japanese officials added that they had also issued a similar order to another North Korean ship, the Seungli Ho, currently making a port call at Sakaiminato. That vessel has carried out the necessary repairs and has received Japanese permission to leave the port.
