4 S. Korean Female Golfers to Compete in Rio Olympics

The roster for South Korea’s women’s Olympic golf team has been finalized ahead of the upcoming Summer Games in Brazil.

According to world golf rankings announced on Monday showing who is eligible to play at Rio, Park In-bee, Kim Sei-young, Yang Hee-young and
Chun In-gee were selected to represent the nation in next month’s Summer Olympics.

On average, each country can send their two highest-ranking golfers to the Rio Olympics. However, South Korea is among a number of countries that can send four players, with their players occupying more than four spots on the world top 15 list.

Currently, six South Korean female golfers are on the top 15 list.

Among male golfers, An Byeong-hun and Kim Kyung-tae are expected to represent South Korea in Rio, although the men’s world rankings have not been announced yet.

Golf will be played in the Olympic Games as an official event for the first time in 112 years.
