Former top intelligence official Lim Dong-won was summoned for the second time Friday for questioning on the North Korea payoff scandal.

Hoping to glean more information about the inter-Korean summit arrangements and remittances to Pyongyang, the independent counsel summoned Lim, then director of the National Intelligence Service, after questioning his subordinates on their trips to the North just prior to the June 2000 inter-Korean summit.

Former President Kim Dae-jung's administration is suspected of giving North Korea cash and goods in exchange for its agreeing to the summit three years ago, and Lim is believed to have been deeply involved in the process.
