The U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) held a memorial service Friday at a church in Yongsan Garison, Seoul, honoring the memory of two Korean schoolgirls killed last year.

More than 300 people attended the service, including General Leon J. Laporte, common commander of the USFK and the American ambassador to Seoul, Thomas Hubbard.

In an address, Laporte expressed his sorrow over the deaths of the girl as well as his condolences to their families, shedding tears while introducing a poem he wrote for the bereaved.

All 17 installations of the 2nd Infantry Division conducted similar services during the day, and changed their curfews from the usual 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm for Friday and Saturday.
