N. Korea's Olympic Squad Enters Athletes' Village in Rio

North Korean athletes who will compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics entered the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Village on Sunday.

The squad, which arrived in Brazil last Thursday, hoisted the North Korean national flag at a ceremony officially marking its entrance into the athletes' accommodation center.

However, none of the North Korean athletes were present at the ceremony. Only 16 officials accompanying the squad, including coaches, took part in the ceremony.

A delegation official said that none of the athletes could make it to the ceremony due to training, adding that they have yet to overcome jet lag.

A total of 31 North Korean athletes will compete in nine events, including swimming, table tennis, wrestling, gymnastics and judo.
