South Korea will build a vocational training school in Ethiopia.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA) said Wednesday that it accepted the African country’s request to establish a Korean vocational training facility in the northern region of Tigray.
The South Korean overseas aid agency plans to spend five-point-five million U.S. dollars to build the school by 2018 and open it the following year.
The school spanning six-thousand-350 square meters will be built on a site measuring 120-thousand square meters in the city of Mekelle. It will operate training programs in the fields of administration, welding, plumbing, machinery, construction, woodwork, textile and apparel in its four buildings.
South Korea will also provide school equipment and materials and send training experts while inviting Ethiopian students.
Ethiopia was the only African country to help South Korea in the Korean War by sending over six-thousand forces. Of the dispatched troops, 122 were killed and 536 were injured in battle.
