S. Korean Athletes Enter Rio de Janeiro Olympic Village

With just three days left until the 2016 Summer Olympics, South Korean athletes entered the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Village on Tuesday.

Some 50 national players for boxing, fencing, handball, table tennis and others attended a ceremony at the accommodation center, after arriving in Brazil last Wednesday.

Chung Mong-gyu, head of the South Korean delegation, said in a speech that he believes South Korea will achieve the goal of winning more than ten gold medals and ranking within the top ten of the medal tally as long as the athletes don’t get sick.

South Korea’s Olympic squad is made up of 333 people, including 204 athletes.

South Korean athletes will compete in 24 out of the total 28 events, except for basketball, tennis, rugby and the triathlon.
