Support Center for S. Korean Olympic Athletes Opens in Rio de Janeiro

The main support center for the South Korean delegation to the Summer Olympics has opened in Rio de Janeiro.

The Korean Olympic Committee(KOC) said that it held the opening ceremony of the Korea House on Wednesday.

The center is about a 15-minute drive from the athletes’ village.

Korea House head Kim Seong-jo said that facility will serve as a catering center for South Korean athletes, a risk management tower and a media center for press conferences, interviews, and other promotional activities for South Korea’s sports diplomacy.

KOC Secretary-General Cho Young-ho expressed hope that Korea House will help South Korean athletes maintain their best form and achieve Team Korea’s goal of a top 10 finish at the Rio Games.

The KOC has operated the Korea House in Olympic host cities since Athens 2004.
