The Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization has opened its annual conference in Seoul. Some one hundred-80 representatives from 45 member states, ten international organizations and 20 observer states are attending the five-day conference.

Prime Minister Goh Kun said in the opening speech that Korea's new 'Participatory Government' will respect international law and take the lead in achieving the goals of the organization.

High on the agenda are fighting against international terrorism, anti-corruption and protection of the environment, women and children.

The organization, founded in 1956, is a advisory body in international law and acts as a forum for Asian-African co-operation in legal matters.

It is the second time Seoul has hosted an annual meeting of the organization after the 20th session was held in 1979.
