South Korean Park In-bee has won the gold medal at the first women's golf competition at the Olympics since 1900, bringing home the ninth gold for South Korea at the Rio games.
Park shot a five-under 66 on the final day at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics on Saturday, defeating world No. 1 Lydia Ko by five shots. She finished the tournament 16-under 268 with seven birdies and two bogeys.
With the victory, Park has become the only golfer, male or female, with an Olympic gold and a career grand slam by winning four different majors at least once.
Ko of New Zealand finished the game with 11-under 273 to claim the silver medal, while Feng Shanshan of China took the bronze at ten-under 274.
In rhythmic gymnastics, South Korean Son Yeon-jae failed to win the country’s first Olympic rhythmic gymnastics medal.
Son finished fourth in the individual all-around final, scoring 72-point-898 points from her hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon programs.
In diving, South Korea’s Woo Ha-ram finished eleventh at the men’s 10-meter platform at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Center.
In wrestling, Kim Gwa-nuk lost to Reineris Salas Perez of Cuba in the round of 16 in the men’s freestyle 86-kilogram event at Carioca Arena 2.
