Chuseok Thanksgiving Celebrations for Foreigners in Seoul

An event celebrating the upcoming Chuseok holidays with foreigners will be held in Seoul on Sunday.

The Seoul Global Center announced that it will hold the event, titled “Foreign Resident and Korean Thanksgiving Day,” on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the North end of Gwanghwamun Square.

Ahead of the three-day holiday and the following weekend that begins from September 14th, Sunday's events will feature a variety of performances, including of fusion Korean traditional music, 'samulnori,' or traditional Korean percussion music, and taekkyeon, South Korea’s traditional martial art.

The event will also provide the opportunity for foreigners to play traditional Korean folk games, including top-spinning and the game of Tuho or pitch-pot.

Participants will also be able to experience ancestor-memorial rites, calligraphy and wearing of hanbok.
