The South Korean delegation to the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics has checked into the athletes’ village in the Brazilian city.
The South Korean team held a joint entry ceremony with a Serbian delegation at a plaza in the Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Village on Monday. The ceremony was attended by delegation head Chung Jae-jun and 75 South Korean Paralympic athletes in five sports categories, such as judo, weightlifting, swimming, table tennis and tennis.
Donned in their official white and blue uniforms, the South Korean athletes entered the plaza with wheelchair tennis player Lee Ha-gel as the flag bearer. They hoisted South Korea's national flag after receiving a warm welcome from the head of the Paralympic Village and Adrian Santos, a Brazilian track and field athlete with visual impairment.
Consisting of 139 members, including 81 athletes, the South Korean delegation aims to win more than eleven gold medals and finish among the top 12 of the overall medal count.
