Chun In-gee Clinches LPGA Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award

South Korean golfer Chun In-gee has secured the 2016 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award on the LPGA tour.

The LPGA said Wednesday that Chun clinched the points-based award even though there are six events remaining in the season.

With her victory at the Evian Championship, the season’s final major championship, Chun has tallied one-thousand-223 points, maintaining a 778-point-lead over runner-up Megan Khang of the U.S..

This marks the third-largest margin of victory in the history of the rookie award. Karrie Webb received the honor over Mayumi Hirase in 1996 by the largest margin of one-thousand-30 points. The second largest margin was recorded when Pak Se-ri defeated Janice Moodie in 1999 with a lead of 929 points.
