Foreign Media Actively Cover Golfer Pak Se-ri's Retirement

Stories covering the retirement of LPGA legend Pak Se-ri were reported across various foreign media outlets on Thursday.

The Associated Press said that Pak ended her Hall of Fame career in tears in front of her adoring home fans at the LPGA KEB HanaBank Championship in Incheon, South Korea. The report said Pak won 25 LPGA Tour titles and five majors, two of them during a rookie season in 1998 that gave women's golf its biggest boost since the U.S.' Nancy Lopez.

U.S. magazine Golfweek described Pak’s retirement ceremony as “a farewell fit for a queen.”

Golf Digest, another U.S. monthly magazine, introduced a tweet posted by 19-year-old Brooke Henderson. The Canadian golfer tweeted said that the last putt of Pak’s LPGA career was amazing and described Pak as “beyond incredible.”

American cable and satellite television network Golf Channel reported that Pak plans to build a sports program in South Korea and create a system for training athletes beyond athletic skill, adding that “she wants to train hearts, minds and souls, too.”
