Korean Food Event Captivates New Yorkers

An event was held in New York City to promote Korean cuisine.

Seoul's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korean Food Foundation hosted the event on Friday at Pier 94 in Manhattan along the Hudson River.

Star chefs of New York cooked up Korean dishes such as "japchae," or stir-fried glass noodles with vegetables and pumpkin porridge for visitors to taste.

Executive Chef Michael Anthony and Sous Chef James Bae of the Michelin star-rated Gramercy Tavern were also at the event showing off their culinary skills.

A cooking show for beginners also drew immense attention from spectators.

The event was part of the 2016 New York City Wine & Food Festival, which kicked off Thursday.

More promotional events on Korean food will continue Saturday and Sunday including Koreatown Eats, a program showcasing Korean menu items developed by 14 local New York chefs.
