'Train to Busan' Garners 2 Major Awards at Sitges Film Festival in Spain

South Korea’s zombie flick “Train to Busan” has won two major awards at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Catalonia, Spain.

The film, directed by Yeon Sang-ho, was handed the awards for best director and best special effects at the festival Saturday held in the coastal town of Sitges.

It is the second international recognition for the movie after it won the top prize at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada in August.

Other South Korean films were also honored at the Sitges festival, including Director Na Hong-jin’s horror film “The Wailing” and Director Park Chan-wook’s thriller “The Handmaiden.”

"The Wailing" received the best cinematography award and the Focus Asia Award, while "The Handmaiden” garnered the Grand Audience Award.

The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival opened on October seventh and wrapped up on Sunday.
