An annual gathering of young Korean professionals living abroad opened in Seoul on Monday.
Hosted by the Overseas Korean Foundation, the 2016 Future Leaders’ Conference will bring together 97 young overseas Koreans from 23 countries.
The participants are second and third-generation immigrants of Korean descent taking on various professions such as prosecutors, doctors, designers and IT developers. Throughout the five-day conference, they will rediscover their identities as Koreans and seek to boost exchanges between their countries of residence and their native home. They will also obtain firsthand experiences about Korean history and culture while traveling to Korean cities including Gwangju, Jeonju and Paju.
Discussions will also be held on how to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula from the viewpoints of expatriates in a forum held on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they will also visit the Demilitarized Zone and the Seoul Center for Creative Economy and Innovation.
The conference will end on October 21st.
